Large Canvas with Gold Leaf – Resin Finish – From the Sing a Joyful Noise Collection

This listing is for the Large Canvas – 24 x 36 x 1.5 ”

Acrylic Painting with Gold Leaf and Resin Finish. Depth Border White.

Entire collection in last picture.

*Due to the reflective nature of the resin finish, it can be tricky to capture the true colours. So I’d ask to please look through each photo just to make sure.

I photographed each in different light settings. Also please note that some monitors may be calibrated differently, so slight colour variations are possible.

At the beginning of summer 2019, I was just starting to feel the effects of a burn out. It wasn’t for lack of inspiration that I didn’t want to paint, but the sheer thought of painting, or using watercolor, tired me. That feeling left me unsure of where to turn, and made me wonder what the future held for my art career. Or, for that matter, if I even wanted to continue pursuing an art career. As my creative side was fading fast, I wanted to give a last ditch attempt to a medium I’d always wanted to try large scale. Acrylic, with a resin finish!

I had nothing specific I wanted to paint – but armed with a colour palette in mind, and a bible verse that kept spurring me on ‘Psalm 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.’ (The rest of the chapter is equally hopeful (posted below) I started on the largest canvas, and was instantly immersed in finishing this mini-series.

As my brush danced across the canvas, I wanted this verse to come to life with paint. A melody. Yellow, and gold representing sound of joy, white as paper, black being the notes transformed fluid. As I continued painting, flowers appeared, and last but not least a little cottage surrounded by yellow flower fields and gold.

The final finish on those few would be a glossy resin finish to bounce off light, and surrounding atmosphere, making the gold leaf all the more magical.

Those were probably the last paintings I’d create in a while. Although I still waver through feelings of insecurity, or being unsure of my abilities as an artist, and what my path holds, I’m thankful my desire to paint, and create is slowly flickering back.

My hope is, if these paintings find their way in your home, that they refresh you, and help remind you that God is still there through the rough times that certain seasons of life bring, and that you’re reminded to make a joyful noise to the Lord!

Psalms 100
1. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
